I think they nerfed them to halt light progression. That's why blues have cut offs now. All to slow the nonstop playing population. I'm a pvp player for the most part and now that barely rewards since blues are locked at 340, 750 worth of rep per week in bounties was removed, and 3 of coins sucks for end game rewards. I'm stuck in archon forge for the most part to get raid ready or trials ready since I hate strikes. And I'm not enjoying it so I'm just playing less.
