How I'm using Destiny to rewire my brain

I'm an old school Bungie fan, (not grizzled ancient, only old school) I grew up playing Halo CE, I played Halo 2 on xbox live, admired Halo 3 (that was the game that made me want to work for the company) demolished Reach, destroyed ODST, fought through all the Marathon games, pulverized Oni, and even named my own clone of Pong, Gnop! My old name on the forums, and my original gamertag were both Chriiss6, I'm a fairly old member of the Bungie community. So that's why it only felt right for one of Bungie's games to be used in a little experiment I decided to undertake; rewriting my brain. Q: What is rewriting your brain? A: Well, I don't know all the fancy mumbo-jumbo, but basically it is like re-learning something you already know, but in a new way. Q: What does it do? A: In as easy a way as possible, it helps keep your mind sharp, increases your ability to learn and adapt to change, as well as a great deal more benefits to your mental health (you can see every bit of information here. So, what exactly am I doing to do this? Simple, I'm learning a new way to play the game. For over 15 years, I've played on the default stick layout, which is the left to move and the right to look. I've decided to change that, so now, I play on Southpaw, which reverses the sticks, basically, left is to look and right is to move. How does this help rewrite my brain? Simple, I have learned how to play with default, but never learned how to play on Southpaw, because my brain chemistry has been written to play on default for over 15 years, it's become second nature, like breathing, or farting. By playing on Southpaw, I have to completely learn all over again, fair enough I know which stick is which now, but I am actually going against what my brain has learned to be normal, and instead went "Hey, try this!" So when I'm playing, I will try and play on default, but then try to correct myself instantly, because my mind knows it is now wrong. Has anybody else ever undertaken something like this? What were the results and what did you notice about yourself afterwards? Leave a comment and let me know.
