Well here's the thing, it is living yes, but it has no brain. It can't think, it has no concionus until much later in the cycle. At that point it's a zygote. A single cell organism that it's only job is to multiply.

Up until it gains a conscious it's effectively a type of parasite. technically a parasite until it leaves the womb and the umbilical cords cut (and maybe still for the next 18-20 years afterwards)

That's a pretty valid point for the next 18-20 years, but it is kind of necessary for children to be supported by parents. Some kids make it on their own, and I've talked to one of them before (My grandfather). He says that no one should ever have to go through abandonment/no parents, and that it would be better for an abortion. He's catholic and he told me this.
