False. The US was founded on ideas of the Enlightenment. Many of the founding fathers (Jefferson, Franklin, Washington, Madison) were deists, not Christians, as were some Enlightenment thinkers. In case you're unfamiliar, deism is a philosophy that suggests that God is indifferent to and dies not interact with the universe, and it places a high value on the power of human reason in solving the world's problems. I, personally am an agnostic pan-deist (pantheists believe that the universe is synonymous with God), not claiming to know that God exists, but holding the opinion that he is an indifferent universal consciousness.
