There is evidence for a new planet the size of Neptune farther from the sun than Pluto or Eris.
This "Planet Nine" has actually been expected by scientists for a while now, as it would explain the unusual movement of Kepler Belt objects, like Eris.
And ironically the man who found it, Mike Brown, is the guy who found Xena (now Eris) and lead to Pluto's demotion.
But of course some celebrity's boob job got more screen time. Go figure.
Also, that's extremely cool. You'd think that, by now, we'd have discovered everything in our celestial neighborhood with the technology we have. It makes future discoveries more exciting.
- El Burninator

So if they classify it as a planet will it have to be named after a Roman or Greek god/goddess to keep in tradition with the rest of our solar system or can they name it whatever they want?

It truly sucks that this generation isn't too excited about space exploration. It's so -blam!-ing amazing, yet everyone I know straight up says "space is boring."

HOLY -blam!-ING SHIT!!! THIS IS -blam!-ING AMAZING! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS -blam!-ING MEANS??!!!! THE GREAT TOPICS OF THE INNER PLANETS WILL BE REVISITED! PLUTO AND DWARF PLANET STATUS WILL BE RESOLVED!!!!!! WE ARE STANDING IN THE MIDST OF HISTORY!!!!

I expect that, instead of a planet, we will find a brown dwarf star. Reason being, most star systems out there are in fact, binary systems. This would make it likely that the object is a Failed star. Also, that would explain the objects distance from the sun.

Wait did you say THE NINE and ERIS. Did Bungie know about this planet before its discovery?
