Brotherhood sucks in Fallout 4. Usually I'd be all "YEA BOI AD VICTORIAM" but no, they make you kill an awesome companion, destroy an organization of good, send you on 3 second long repetitive side missions, and generally just don't really feel like the "good guys" of the Wasteland anymore.

You dont have to kill him The Institute isnt "good" its morally grey The Brotherhood isnt supposed to be "good" its morally grey This game isnt "Heres the good guys, heres the bad guys, heres the neutral guys, now choose" its instead "Pick what you think is right"

If you count a group of lawless anarchists trying to over throw their governments a "group of good guys" then yeah. No faction is good or evil. They all want power for the safety of the common wealth. But all think only they can do it because they feel their way is the best.

Eh. The Minute Men don't believe they are the only way to so it, hence why no matter what side you choose in the ending, the Minute Men still support you and your choices. Side with BoS and you don't need to wipe them out. Side with The Railroad, same thing. Institute... etc. They seem to be the ones who expect good to come from good deads (help others and do the right thing to recieve support)

Nr. The minute men believe in no structure implemented by a government they completely support freedom of the people which in turn they know can also cause anarchy and raiders and things such as that would will exist. The NCR started out the same as the minute men and then turned into a corrupt government taking whatever they felt vital to their cause. No faction in this game is truly evil or good just like in real politics because who's to say what's right and wrong? Some believe you can't kill innocence to win a war while some feel its vital. Some believe killing at all makes you evil even if they attack you. You can tell Bethesda built this game around pure preference. Every faction has good intentions but you have to make sacrifices in order to reach those goals. Each one you sacrifice something different. The minute men lack order within the waste land. While any other faction will instill some sort of order

Interestingly put about the minute men. I never followed the NCR as I wasn't a huge Fallout: NV fan, so I wasn't aware of the I origins. I knew the three factions were all morally grey, being "right" in some type of context or to someone in some way, but the Minute Men had you ("The General") as a leader as you supported multiple settlements for the greatest good. Guess I never looked or thought about that to, to much. Great input though for them though.

Anymore? They've always been selfish, egotistical extremists. The Brotherhood encountered in Fallout 3 under Elder Lyons were the exception rather than the rule. The Brotherhood Outcasts rightfully viewed themselves as the true extension of the Brotherhood on the East Coast before Maxson brought them back into the fold. My inner 8 year old keeps wanting to side with them because Power Armor+Prydwen+Liberty Prime=Incredibly Awesome, but their "kill all synth" mentality is a real deal breaker.

You don't have to kill that companion, and honestly, the organization they destroy is only 'good' in the eyes of some, as in the eyes of others, they would save the synths. Brotherhood just seemed nicer in Fallout 3 because of Elder Lyons' views, which were to help the people rather than to eradicate threats and control technology. Maxson has brought the Brotherhood back on the path to its goals, similar to that of the Mojave and Outcast chapters, albeit the change was very quick and slightly extreme.

The brotherhood have always had extremist views. Remember in Fallout 3 the wanted to kill all mutants. While I understand the idea behind exterminating super muntants and feral ghouls. The reagular ghouls and mutants like Fawks don't deserve death just for being mutated.
