I dunno I think it's pretty damn nice as is. At most maybe raise the ammo to 9 without the heavy perk. And no more than 10 with.
Anymore and it will just end up being nerfed like gally. What I like about SS is in pvp people can't blindly shoot a wall and let wolf pack go across the room killing things. And the damage it does in PVE is crazy! Can't believe increasing that damage is a recommendation.
Do people not even try for the crit? That's where the gun shines so bright!!
I was trying to justify making the gap between crit and non-crit more like a sniper rifle without having to decrease the non-crit damage too ridiculously low.
And honestly I think the damage isn't nearly as high as some players seem to think. Yes, it has the highest crit damage per shot, but not even close per second or per total ammo reserves. Case in point: Black Spindle crits red bar enemies around 27,000 and yellow bars around 12,000 while Sleeper Simulant crits red bar enemies around 34,000 and yellow bars around 16,000. You can shoot Black Spindle about twice as fast so DPS for BS is about 1-1/2 as much as SS without even considering it's no reload bonus. Also, you can hold 23 rounds for BS and only 7 for SS. Take all of this info into account and it becomes obvious that Black Spindle is a better choice for the exotic slot.
Also, Golgoroth should be mentioned here while testing Black Spindle at 310 with weapons of light you can crit Golgoroth at around 98,000. Sleeper Simulant at 300 with weapons of light crits at 105,000 (yes I know it'll do a little more once it is at level 310). In a one bubble phase you can get about 15 shots off with BS, but only about 6 or seven with SS. So...
vs. Golgoroth (in one puddle phase):
BS - 15 x 98,000 = 1,470,000
SS - 7 x 105,000 = 735,000
*You can do twice the damage with Black Spindle (assuming every shot with both weapons are all crits).
So, yeah. I think it's reasonable to increase the Sleeper Simulants crit damage a mere 10%.
