How Much Do You Think 1 Hour Game Time is Worth?
I'm honestly curious to see what people think a game is truly worth in currency.
Let's assume that it's a new IP that runs 30FPS and 1080p
Much like Destiny itself.
Or let's say it a DLC/expansion. Same specs, new content and locations. New ways to play. New story. Perhaps a new character.
I honestly need to know what people think. Comment what you voted below.

[b][u]Edit 2[/u][/b]: Examples of entertainment we spend money on.
[u]Movies[/u] - $10+ for 1 1/2 - 3 hours entertainment. So less than $5 per hour. Can't keep the movie
[i]optional[/i] $1.50 for same time. Can't keep it.
[u]Bowling[/u]: $10 for an hour on a lane (at least where I'm at) per person. Can't keep the alley.

Alright, now that this post is kind of blowing up. With the general consensus being $1 per hour comment below how much Bungie would owe you if they paid you back for every hour you spent beyond the money you paid.
Look at that number. If you have complained that Destiny was not worth your time and money and you have more than 120 hours - why? I want to know.

I think this isn't a fair question. Novelty is an important part of value. People pay to see new movies more than old, new games are more exciting. It's really not quantifiable per hour, as perhaps the first hour is the best. The point you seem to be making is that video games are cheap entertainment evaluated per hour. I think that's true. I would not pay 40 dollars for 40 hrs of gaming though.

I really try not to look at a game's "value" that way. I try to look at the game's experience as a whole to determine it's value, not just time spent playing. For example, I spent 20 dollars on the first season of Life is strange, which is how much I spent on the expansion pass for Destiny. Now, I spent [i]way[/i] more hours playing the two DLCs I got out of the expansion pass than I did playing Life is Strange. But I would say that Life is Strange was the more "valuable" experience for my money.

6 回覆There's a specific flaw in your question. Basically it doesn't take into account that not all "game hours" are created equal. Running a new quest on the Dreadnaught, seeing new areas for the first time, exploring hidden chambers...that's premium game time. But being given a quest that asks me to kill 3 VIP targets in all 5 locations, doing the same patrols I've always done...that's something Bungie should almost be paying me to do, because it has no entertainment value. You do it because you have to. I figure I spent about 5 hours doing the new quests on the Dreadnaught, and each of those was worth a couple of bucks to me. But most everything else has been taking me back to the same spots, just like Bungie always does. This value I would probably measure in pennies. Hope that makes sense.

3 回覆I can only imagine the dollar signs spinning around in lawyers heads as they ponder the possibility of a huge law suit... I would hope any judge in his right might would throw the case out immediately and declare the lawyers involved mentally incompetent and have them admitted to the nearest looney ward for the next 15 years or at least until they started to see the blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah more random words and we all laugh at what I just said and everyone hits the little like button and we all move on with our lives . . . I might post something like that on a future post, if the topic has anything to do with what I just said... What do you think?

1 回覆I say every hour of your life is worth however much your income is. I have sunk in well over 20 hours into ttk so it had been worth the money for me.

7 回覆You're not really asking a good question. Subscription fee based games are about $13 a month, with unlimited playtime, hundreds of character slots, many thousand times more content than Destiny. Destiny would fail massively and in some regards already have.
