Skill based matchmaking worked in halo 3. It only works if the ranking system is skill based too.
No, it worked in Halo 3 before the population started to drop. Then it created a massive skill gap because they weren't enough people of the same rank and made the entire ranked playlist borderline unplayable.
^^^This, obviously E.A. are expecting the player base to drop fast in SW:BF, so a new one can be made to milk the casual player base. We don't even know if the game is using dedi servers, halo had a longer TTK which makes it easier to code. Battlefail has a fast TTK.

It worked fine in 2012 to 2013 when the fame only had an average of 20k to 30k players. Considering I got a fresh 50 in those tears. It was ma8nly effected when the xbox one releases and MCC in 2014. How long do you expect the game to live? Most games last 2 to 3 years. Halo 3 lasted much, much longer. Of course playlists would become dead that happens in every aging game. COD 4 didn't have a skill based system and most playlists in that game are dead.
