If some people spent the time they do on hating destiny on the actual story of destiny, they would be pleasantly surprised what they could find.
I put a link to some of the story of the two hand cannons, Thorn and The Last Word
If you spend the time reading it, you will learn the story of a guardian by the name of Yor and his rise and fall.
Before I read this I was like many of you who read this, complaining about the story and how it was absolute trash. But after reading such a deep and awesome story about two hand cannons, my perspective on the game completely shifted.
Destiny was made for you to find your own story, not for it to be handed to you on a silver platter. It is hard and taxing to find this story but when you do it is deeply rewarding.

1 回覆I may have a controversial opinion, but I like the way they tell the story. Considering Destiny is a long term project I'm glad they haven't spoiled me with all the story at release. I want to come back to find out more every day. And it's not that there's no story at all already there, there are so many little hints already in game to discover. But you have to explore them yourself to find them. If I want to find more hints I can rely on the grimoire cards which point to what will come in the future. It also opens up possibilities for a changing environment which is the base of this game. Everything is there in the cards, but will we know which ones will be explained further in the actual game? It leaves paths open for different directions. And I like it. It makes me excited for Destinys future. But again this us only my way of seeing it. Have fun exploring!

由WhoAteMyFunDip編輯: 6/9/2015 8:33:00 AMHere's the problem: I don't give a rat's ass how good the lore MAY be, if it's not in the game, I don't give a ffff. I'm not gonna get immersed in a story by leaving the game. I'm not gonna get interested in the lore by going to a website. I got immersed in Mass Effect because the game told me its story & made me wanna read its IN GAME codex and buy & read the books. I got really interested in Dragon Age's lore because I was discovering it as I was playing the game. That also goes for the Elder Scrolls, Kingdoms of Amalur, Witcher, Bioshock. Destiny's grimoire was a lazy afterthought to try to cover up the fact that the game's story & tone completely changed mid-development.

3 回覆The problem that I and so many others have is that there is basically no story in the actual gameplay. A comprehensible story in the game does not exist. You are forced to read a bunch of grimoire cards to piece together any cohesive information about what is going on. I don't mind buying a book or reading the cards to get a deeper insight into the Destiny universe but it's completely wrong for it to be non existent in the actual game missions themselves. It's really not hard to comprehend why this is an issue.

由Shakes101編輯: 6/9/2015 8:18:27 AMMany people have already picked apart the lore and we have a lot of Theories. However that doesn't make the complete lack of in game story telling ok. You wanna know a game that has good cryptic storytelling BLOODBOURNE.

3 回覆1.) Lore =/= Story 2.) This is a video game, which tends to sell itself on experiences rather than straight up telling us what we should be experiencing. Good storytelling shows us the story and the experience. Bad storytelling tells us, and it is never more obvious than clunky exposition (see: literally every line of dialogue on Destiny). 3.) The lore, no matter how well written, is not reflected in the game itself. Which makes it well written lore, with terrible implementation. 3.5.) This is the key difference between what Dark Souls did in terms of storytelling. They had well written lore that was implemented well, and it was actually reflected in the world. 4.) I really can't reiterate this enough. Good stories always show and never tell.

4 回覆For all of you who make the argument that "I should not have to exit the game to access the lore" and other similar arguments, you are on a website that is made to host these cards. But instead you waste your time that you could be reading these cards on complaining about these cards. Just a thought, and I do agree that it should have been implemented into the game.

2 回覆I think it's funny people adore the souls games for their open story which has to be found and is not explained. But people bash destiny for doing a similar thing. Not exactly the same, but similar. Just amuses me

由Kovathos編輯: 6/8/2015 11:25:20 PMSo they took the lazy way out and we should accept it. Okay. .......... No I finally finished the last HoW story mission and I found it quite amusing how apparently Petra is hardly surprised that the vex can time travel as if it's common knowledge that's never explained at any single point in the game. Cause really what IS explained in this game? Pretty much nothing. Bungie are apparently the game masters of never telling you anything straight forward. Seriously, I'd of preferred they just told me to go here and kill that or hell, nothing at all. They take no time to make you care about what's going on in the game so why should I care also? I'll just mark it as another reason to personally not buy future bungie products. Furthermore lore does not equal a good story. Lore is just the amazing stuff that surrounds your story, which this game lacks of any real coherent one ingame.

26 回覆Yep so many people are so lame and need the story spoon fed to them via cutscenes like MME did or other sp sandbox games do. they want a simple story that takes no thinking like a movie.

4 回覆If a video game requires me to leave the game to find out what the story is behind everything, then it's broken. When doing visual media it's always better to show than tell. Plus how ridiculous is it to have the grimoire separate from the actual game. There are plenty of games Bungie could have learned from to see that the grimoire should have been incorporated into the game. They learned this in Halo 2. Just bad business man.

3 回覆This isn't the story of destiny. This is the backstory of destiny. And why the hell would I want to log out of the game, sign on to bungie.net and read a bunch of text on a screen in small segments in order to fill the massive void of story in the actual game? Put it in a book and mail it to me. Maybe then I'll take it to work and read it on my breaks or something but it still isn't the story.
