Valve Being Stubborn

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd9KLNbecZY The panic is over! No more payed mods! The argument isn't quite over, however Valve has announced that they are canceling their payed mods on the Workshop! So recently, Valve added a new system to their mod workshop. If you're unfamiliar with the modding scene, the Workshop is a piss poor attempt at creating a modding community on Steam. The new system that has been introduced involves paying for mods. That means paying for content that the game developers didn't make. For the most part, modding is free from monetization. Modders have always provided their mods for free. This little move by Valve changes things. The Nexus has been the heart and soul of the modding community for a long time. That said, the Nexus has a well thought-out donation system. This, in contrast to what Valve has produced, offers mods for free whilst allowing the mod user to contribute to the modder whatever they choose. You can choose not to donate on Nexus. On the Workshop, just about every mod requires that some amount be payed for the mod. Some options ranging up to $100.00. If the Workshop were to take a few pages from the Nexus's book, we could have seen a better system developed as a result. Valve has received a lot of flak as a result of this. What could have been a good system if introduced correctly, has become a hot topic in the modding community. Personally, I think that this will all fade away. The Workshop will continue to be sh*t and the nexus will remain the go-to source of modding for ages to come. https://soundcloud.com/gophergaming/paying-for-mods-gabe-what-were-you-thinking So, are there any modders out there who care as I do? Give me your opinions.
