I really don't know much about that sort of thing, but I'd check:
Make sure all your stuff is up to date/compatible with your OS or game.
Your internet connection might not be strong enough, or you just might have a bad connection. Resetting the router might help.
Restart the computer, or the DirectX thing.

Can your system handle a high res capture? It might cause it to crash if the resolution is too high. Maybe you can tame down the graphics, or the capture resolution to better the performance. But it always helps to have the right tool for the job.
