I'm confused how you could measure the radius of the traveller when you don't actually know how far away it is from Earth? That's like saying oh cos I can cover a full moon with my thumb at arms length, the moon must be the size of my thumb.. Also, as a Physicist I can clarify that when it says 'Electroweak' it means the unification of both electromagnetism and the weak interaction (the interaction of particles decaying through a mechanism) into a single 'state'. I also know that this unification doesn't exist in our time, but during the time around the Big Bang and has been created in particle colliders at high temperatures/energy. So what it means by electroweak material is anyone's guess.. More than likely Bungie just pulling a complicated word out of their rear ends to make something sound clever..

I made the assumption that the buildings in the hub of the city were 1km tall, and just visually compared them with the diameter of the traveler on-screen. My numbers are very much approximated, and (hopefully) conservative. Thanks for the explanation of electroweak, one of the forum mods who's an electrical engineer was helping me, but good to hear from someone who is actually in the field of physics. :)

  • compare the relative size observed from the front and back of the tower is what he did and then factor in the distance between the two observation points to come up with the data. I mean, the error will obviously be substantial but there is other evidence to further support his following assumptions

  • Its an assumption...

  • But hey it's an interesting calculation and thought to have, fair play!

  • This is a serious question, what exactly is the big bang? Like i know it is all the universe into a small dot, but how did it get there? I have asked my teacher but he just laughs and walks away, and I don't know why.
This is a serious question, what exactly is the big bang? Like i know it is all the universe into a small dot, but how did it get there? I have asked my teacher but he just laughs and walks away, and I don't know why.
We don't know what the big bang is. The name "big bang" implies there was a huge explosion of some kind. But what it is is unknown. It is also said that all matter, space and time itself was 'born' during the big bang. From big bang to 10^-34th seconds (planck time) is completely unknown to us. To get more information about the planck time require scientists to combine quantum and gravity theories, which so far we have been unable to do. But the question as to what big bang was and what caused it, there is a simple answer" We don't know. Also please take this with a grain of salt. As I'm just some random high-schooler. This may or may not be correct. I think it is, but it may be wrong. Physics is not my best subject. Would prefer if someone could confirm this or something.

  • Big bang is false you can't create something out of nothing
