The easiest way I got the husk of the pit 2x in a row was
1. launch fist of Crota on easy
2. go to the ritual
3. kill acolytes
4. when knight spawns take his shield down with arc murmur
5. Shoot him in the head (IMPORTANT) with hawk moon till he's almost dead that throw a grenade that sticks to any part of his body
6. BOOM HUSK OF THE PIT OBTAINED
7. ENJOY
8. RINSE AND REPEAT

He probably just said that to make xbox users think that they can't get it. When I got mine a while back I just used the CE fusion rifle. Since they nerfed fusion rifles I suggest you use an arc shotgun to take him down fast.

I got mine in about 40 mins by doing this on lvl 24, and by shooting him in the head with a Payback CCL and killing him with a trip mine grenade, I think its important to do it with headshots or else u won't get it because before that I didn't get it at all
