Where is everyone?
I consider myself a new member. Six years after my account creation (seven since I started lurking), I still consider myself a new member. Why? Because '04 or bust. Because joining after Halo 3 means you are a new member. Period. Because having a profile ID over 100,000 is pitiful. Because you might be welcomed onto the forums, but you have to earn your way into the Community. Except there are so few elitist bastards left to remind me of that that I am starting to forget.
I am starting to forget employee game nights (only ever a part of one; thanks for the memory DeeJ), and glorious custom games (Fat Kid, anyone?), and simply talking on the forums about a common interest we all seemed to share. I am starting to forget why Choppers on Lost Platoon don't count. Now it seems that people just want to get that Crota checkpoint. No custom games left to speak of. People scattered across four consoles. Where did we all go?
Every now and again, I spot a familiar face. I'm not on enough for people to remember me. Maybe 12 million players is simply too many. Maybe Bungie is starting to be more concerned with time played rather than quality of that time. Maybe such dreams simply do not last. But it was glorious and it will be missed and I shall hope for its return.
I am left to wonder, though, if there is anyone left to care.

1 回复Destiny is a metaphor for Bungie.net as a whole. In our Golden Age, we were prosperous, connected, and happy. Then Bungie released the Darkness in the form of Bungie.next, ending our Golden Age. After a period of rebuilding, Destiny was released, which is akin to the releasing of hordes of enemies in Destiny, with each new, uninitiated poster being a new detriment to our society. There are places left for the old community, like Mythic Members, OTK, and TFL, but that's really it. We're on the brink.

They are the ones who wiped clean the slate. The old community was encouraged and reminded of it's style and heritage in many ways and when the site update came, that was promptly removed. Bungie are not the same company we used to know and as disappointed as I am, I think that it is a result of it's ever growing nature. Perhaps once you get to 300+ employees, you can't really call yourself a rebel, kick-ass game developer. You have to put on the corporate big-boy pants to manage a studio of that size and capability. Bungie seems to be ok with that too. We aren't though. We used to be the favourite child and our siblings had long grown up and moved away from home by the time we came along (most of us anyway). The older siblings (The original community behind the earlier games) still came and visited and played with us like good siblings do and everything was good for a time. Destiny was born though, and now it's getting all the toys and love and we feel neglected. We had to move to a new house, we dealt with a divorce and us developing our own ideas on how things should work in the world, as we should. I'm not saying that we are entitled though. We earned our right to be apart of the Bungie story by giving them our valuable time and money, supporting them by purchasing their products and being an active, loyal and involved community. Looking at the state of things, you could be forgiven for thinking that they tossed the baby out with the bathwater at times. I don't hate the new kids. I generally like this community in a broad sense. I believe that Bungie needs to step in here though, and remind the new arrivals of how our family works rather than let them run amock. We deserve to be acknowledged too. Bungie used to sell the rockstar gimmick to anyone who would listen. Our community used to stand out on the internet as far a video game forums are concerned. Bring back our heritage. Bring back the irreverent and juvenile humour. Bring back the guiding wisdom of the Ninjas, the Employees and the wisest community members. We are members of the Septagon. That used to mean something.

I know what you mean, for anyone who wants to get back into halo custom games, I'm hosting games every weekend on xbone, it's been a pain recreating the maps and not the memories, I may have been late to register my account but hell I still remember. Personally I blame destiny, it split us up with its toxic marketing. I expect to get hate from PSN players so in advance I say this, I don't care about your console or the "Console Wars", I care about the community I know and love, the first gaming community I truly felt at home with and if you have a problem because of halo then deal with it. Destiny drove a wedge into the community and flooded it with poison that created fights on the forums that sparked a pure hatred found across the game forums and led to loyal reasonable players being the target of unwanted violence. (Might be going off topic here) TL;DR I miss the days of old from Halo and if you do too and want to relive some memories then join me and others on Halo:MCC at the weekends for some deeply wanted Halo Custom Fun!

I may be a new user of Bungie.net, but I've been around since Halo 1. So many memories. You're spot on with how things are now that's for sure. I feel it may be best stay positive though. Old memories may fade, but new ones will be made. Chin up Spartan. ( Normally I refer to people as Guardian, but you're different)
