I've been following this project for around 5 years, since the beginning. First, this game was called MechScape. It was supposed to be another Java based MMO in the vein of RuneScape, but with a more sci-fi twist on it. That was later canned. Two years after that, Jagex announced they were working on another game called Stellar Dawn. They released concept art and even a trailer for it. I was pretty excited for it. RuneScape was the first video game I got serious in. I was excited Jagex was making something new. Then, that got canned out of the blue. We were all disappointed. But then they announced they were making TFU. A Transformers MMO sounded -blam!-ing awesome, so I started following that. Then..... it all started going down hill. Jagex announced it was switching gears and going from MMO to MOBA. I hated that decision. I really wanted to make my own Transformer, not play as a pre-established one. And then the Alpha came. Oh boy. I was fortunate, or unfortunate enough to get in. What a bloody mess. The game was, in my opinion, abysmal. The lag in-game was dreadful, and I run a pretty mean machine. The community was a barren wasteland, even in Open Beta. The UI was confusing as all hell. Tutorials might as well have been non-existent. Combat was standard TPS mechanics, and were okay but nothing amazing. The most enjoyable aspect of the game was transforming into vehicle mode and driving around the (smallish) map. Honestly, I'm not surprised this is getting the axe. Jagex is in a lot of trouble. They're losing subscriptions FAST for RS, and the population on TFU was nothing to write home about. Jagex is dying, in my opinion. They took a gamble on this, and I don't think it paid off.
