I think threads like this make it clear a large part of the gamers don't have a real idea about the upcoming changes. I would suggest Bungie put a information marker on the destinations screen detailing all the upcoming chnages.
And in anser to the OP do not upgrade any exotics this week. Just save the exotic shards. You will be upgrading exotics by going to Xur and swapping your 300 damage weapon for a 320 version. They do not need to be maxed out. He will accept unleveled exotics. This will only take effect next week.

Oh I know. But this game has millions of players. Not all will reguarly check the bungie website believ it or not. If teh information was on the destinations screen in-game then no one could miss it. Much like the trailer video they have on there at the moment for Crotas End.

I see your point. It would benefit some players to put it in game. However, I think many players still would not read through it because frankly, they don't want to read a 1/2 page article. I don't see it hurting Bungie so they should do something like that, but I don't see the number of uninformed players decreasing by a significant amount.
