I read this and a few things come to mind..
1) Why do you want crucible gear if you don't intend to play in the crucible? The Vanguard gear is better for PVE, so if you need legendary gear and only play PVE it will better serve you to use Vanguard Marks to purchase it.
2) This is how all other aspects of the game work. There are people to don't like running the raid and strictly play crucible. They are not able to purchase raid gear outside of playing the raid. So why should you be allowed crucible gear outside of playing the crucible?
3) You don't need to be good at PVP to earn a lot of marks. One 12 minute match will earn you 2 or 3 marks, depending on if you win or loose. This mean in one hour you will earn at least 10 marks, if you loose all 5 matches. That would be equivalent to farming 100 materials, which is hard to do in under an hour!

To #1, I for one base my gear on my exotics, and try to have well rounded stats. I need the New Monarchy helmet for when I run Heart of the Praxic Fire, so that my melee cool down is shorter, and grenade kills cool it even more. Different people play differently, and they want gear from the factions for either looks, or stats, or for their weapons. Your opinion on what gear is best for what mode only applies to you.

Disagree, I could easily farm 100 mats in an hour, get tons of random drops, public events and beacon tasks. This is a millions time more enjoyable to me. It may be the worst thing for you but before the patch we both did what we liked and this post never would have been made. After the weekly reset I could max out on Vanguard and Crucible Marks for one Guardian immediately. You couldn't do that with PvP I bet. I was even close to do that for 2 Guardians a week. Now I got a ton of mats that do nothing for me at the moment.
