What Bungie did with this patch is prove what I've been suspecting all along. They were not prepared for the amount of players that would be able to defeat Atheon easily even on normal. They assumed that a Fireteam would take weeks to clear through VoG, and the 14 hour first raid kinda helped with that attitude. Bungie watched as the first fireteam to enter the Vault was cut down for 14 hours, and happily congratulated them when they finally completed it, walking away with the idea that they created a pretty difficult raid that wasn't unbeatable, but was still very difficult. But then week two comes around, and even more fireteams complete it. Then week 3, even MORE are completing it. Suddenly any randomly made fireteam with a 2-3hour window could easily complete the raid. Bungie watched as their precious raid was -blam!-ed backwards and sideways by any fireteam that stepped in the Vault. The player base was happy with the raid, atleast from what i could see. The raid was fun, not to hard, still took a few hours to complete, and you felt accomplished when you dropped Atheon. Then there was hardmode to look forward to. Yes, there was some technical issues, but that was always expected, especially since this was the first raid. My issue with all this is that Bungie did not look at what was wrong with the raid because they were so shocked that their player base was beating it so easily. Something that drives me -blam!-ing crazy, and has tarnished my view of Bungie, was the Atheon change. Not so much with the baby bumpers (however i do think Bungie should of foreseen players pushing him off, it feels like they didnt even test their raid) because i [b]DO[/b] think you should not be able to push Atheon off in hardmode(which directly resulted in their nerf to the vex, and i entirely blame the player base for this) but more the random teleport. This is because they watched the first raidteam do the 3 in back and 3 upfront to kill Atheon during the first raid. They watched them do this strat. That's what drives me insane. So when the vast majority of players started to kill Atheon with that strat, Bungie in a panic, said "No no that's just a bug it should never of been that way." [b]WHAT?[/b] Bungie, you watched the first raidteam complete it like that, and now you are calling it a bug when everyone is doing it? Get the -blam!- over yourself Bungie. That's only one thing that Bungie is doing wrong, as i could go on and on about how they massively favor PvP, obviously cut content to sell on DLC(which i think is fine, but it shouldnt be THIS -blam!-ing obvious), and completely ignore player feedback even though Deej says they read all of it. I also have a serious problem with Deej. First few weeks he was great, responding with detailed posts about the game and providing a great bridge for the players and developers. But slowly, he started to fade, as more problems with the game arose. His posts became less detailed, and less informative. Then the whole 404architect (scandal?maybe) reddit post came about, and all we got from him was a "lolz u got trolled". Who -blam!-ing says that when something like that happens? I see long, very constructive posts, providing fantastic feedback and suggestions for the game that get no response from Deej, but the next day see him respond to a crybaby post with attitude and sarcasm. While i love the game, as i think it has alot of potential even with all the problems, what I see is Bungie killing their own product. I'm invested for the first 2 DLC's, so i will def still be providing feedback, but if Bungie doesn't get their shit together i fear the once great company that was responsible for Halo will go down in history as the biggest turnaround in the gaming industry.

    Hold on karks I haven't read your whole post yet but the first paragraph got me. If they thought that every fireteam was going to take 14 hours to beat that raid they are crazy the hardest thing about that raid is figuring out how to beat the puzzles not the bosses just like the rest of the game if they truly wanted to make this a week long raid they could have took us through every planet till we finally meet with aethon not a door a templar a gaze maze then boss come on I spend more time getting my teammates on the same than it take to beat these enemies. ......bungie is just insulting our gaming capabilities that's all.....a week long raid that with a good team you can beat in 4 hours or less without the cheese gimme a break bungie.. Yea karks instead of them applauding the strategy they counter play instead of adding content to make it more difficult smh they should be happy that there community shares secrets with each other and yes the raid is great fun with friends and strangers....but I guess that not what it's about karks it's about pvp forget those pve people they need to play pvp bungie stop forcing me I will never play you are not call of duty and you will never be.....

  • I have only one difference of opinion. You say Bungie favors PvP. Well then why limited maps and game play variables? Why a PVP reminiscent of PVP 8 years ago? Why not huge 64 player matches? Where's hardcore (they had that on halo)? Where are the tanks? Jeeps? Giant snipe maps that we loved in blood gulch and others? Where is the PVP competition to keep that fan base? Answer: it isn't there. I say all this to say, even as a PVE 90% player, I think the PVP crowed got it handed to them just as much as we did. And their quick fixes to PvP prove they know this...why else the rapid response? The game lacks "Depth" on all sides PVE and PVP. The PVP crowed should feel just as disappointed. I like the game, I enjoy it, and I will keep playing...but I am feeling wore down. Something I didn't expect to happen. And I feel it in PVE and see it when I try PVP as well. - MAL1CE

  • Honestly, I think this has to do with the marketing wizards at Activision. They don't want anything to stand in the way of CoD (This year's preorders are already down 40% from last year's Ghosts). So they've effectively calfed what SHOULD have been its biggest competition. After the holiday season, you will see things reprioritized according to how well CoD does over Nobember-January. If it does excessively poor, they will boost marketing and exposure on Destiny, if it does well, Destiny will continue to limp until CoDs numbers start to drop. Either way, Activision makes a huge amount of money. They still want to protect the brand power of their flagship title though. I have to suspend disbelief that Crucible was the best that Bungie, the MASTERS of online multiplayer, could come up with. There is business going on here, smelly political money business, and that's a real shame.

  • I would like to point out this isn't Halo and Bungie never ever wanted it to be Halo ever. That's why all of those Halo concepts you listed aren't in the game, because they didn't want to make another Halo. They wanted to make Destiny, something new, that's why they left Microsoft in the first place.

  • Your point was a good one, that the shallowness of the game in its entirety is very disappointing. I was merely stating that Bungie themselves did not want this to be Halo over again. I don't feel like it is Halo. I actually Really didn't like Halo even though I've played all of them, but I really like Destiny. The decisions Bungie has made of late has me worn down more than the lack of content in the game.

  • I was never much a Halo fan, so my first experience with Bungie has been Destiny. I could tell you of the greats stories I've heard of Bungie of the past, I could tell you about how I've heard they used to be, but all I know is they aren't acting like anything I've heard of them -.-

  • Thanks, I've been a stout defender of Bungie since Destiny launched, but this patch, the upcoming "content"(if you can even call it that. New Iron Banner? Lets see something new) and the attitude of Deej has pushed me over the edge. It's like Bungie is a 5 year old kid who got their toy stolen, so they go and break it so no one can use it. It feels like Bungie is mad at the PLAYERS, as if it's our fault the game feels empty.

  • Exactly. They probably should have studied what makes an RPG or MMO successful (player freedom and plethora of customization options and multiple quest endings) before trying to reinvent the genre...
