Yeah at the very least an IM option. If the proximity was small enough that you would be within a few metres to speak to someone, that would clear up a lot of noise in small areas. What if all you had to do to begin chatting with someone outside your Fireteam was to wave at them, they wave back to accept communication and now you can talk until you wave at them again to end?..
