I like the idea of a non-pixely 2D platformer. However, you should make sure It's not too hard to run, because the easier it is to run and how adaptable It Is the wider the audience it will reach. Not only graphically adaptable but it should be available on multiple OSs; like Linux, and Mac. You know, I want to do what you're doing now one day. My dream is to be a game developer. To make something others can enjoy; to hand-craft an experience with pure imagination and skill with others in mind and then let them at it like kids on Christmas; to have a community who trusts our decisions and who we can trust in return. I want to live for those moment when the kids (community) looks up with a huge cheesy grin and say "No way! For me!?!" I even want the kid who no matter what I get them it isn't good enough, to push us to do better and to show me when we're wrong. Keep chasing your dreams guys. You're looking in the right place for a community. I'm not speaking for everyone but, if you keep to your word and keep trying, we'll chase after'm with you.

  • You have the right idea my friend :D game devs don't need people praising us, we need trash talk! we need a challenge :D it's why the market is so stagnant these days! Too much praise not enough shit-talk XD and a little tip, if you want to be a dev, get good at programming, use multiple languages, and make everything from scrap.   • [b]Thank you[/b], that means a lot coming from an actual developer. Now that I think about it, you're the first game dev who's ever communicated with me before. Wow, these are the first words from a game dev's mind intended towards me. It's a weird realization. I'll be brainstorming ideas for Project Radial the next few days, and keeping them in a list. I'll reply with my crazy day dreams in a few days.

  • [i][b]Radial: Community Project (Dylan’s Sporadic Ideas)[/b][/i] [i]These are just suggestions. Some might be bad.[/i] [i]Mechanics:[/i] [b]-[/b] Slow motion. This should be used for fast pace jumping puzzles with moving parts. (Suggestion: it shouldn't recharge slowly; once you use it up, it is uses up. This forces players to be careful with it, spend it wisely. There could be power ups that recharge portions of the bar or even all of it.) [b]-[/b] Different “worlds” can have new mechanics. Ex: Moon world has low gravity. [i]Intractable Objects:[/i] [b]-[/b] Make sure to have a large variety of different platforms. It's a Platformer, so make sure it’s dense with new platforms to find throughout the game that do different things. Ex: A platform that makes you bounce, a spinning platforms, A spinning bouncy platforms. Get creative! [b]-[/b] I don't think there should be a lot of power ups, this might be distracting and make it too hard to learn at first. As well as mess with the simplicity of the game. Not simplicity as in the game should be easy all the time, but it shouldn’t feel like a hassle to pick it up and play. Shouldn’t have too many "moving parts" per say. [i]Artsy Stuff:[/i] [b]-[/b] Not all the levels should have the same style. All of it shouldn’t be dark and gritty, bright and happy, or a nice in between. There should be a diversity to how the level looks and level art. [b]-[/b] Not all the levels should be quite the same. They could be very diverse. Randomly diverse, or each set of levels/”world" could have a similar look to them. Ex: Water world, flower world, moon world, game references world. Not titled like that but you get the drift. [b]-[/b] I like the thought of a higher resolution Platformer. Too many go for that pixel art or 8-bit look. [i]Story Ideas:[/i] [b]-[/b] Something to do with inter-dimensional portals. This world give you huge flexibility when it comes to world design. Why think of some awkward excuse for there being a world made of pizza or game references when you could just say: "your character's in another dimension." [i]Miscellaneous:[/i] [b]-[/b] Level builder. This will prolong the life and replay-ability of the game by a lot. People can make crazy things when you give them the right tools. Maybe look at Trials: Evolution/Fusion's level editor for inspiration on what things map creators need and want. Since map makers go wild for that game. (I bet there's a forum out there full of map makers, just ranting about useful info) [b]-[/b] Possibly a character editor. Nothing significantly game changing or big, just being able to change your clothing color and change your gender would be a nice touch. [b]-[/b] If you pick a specific gender and we can't change it, make it female. Since it doesn't change the gameplay and it's only cosmetic, why not make it a girl? They're obviously nicer to look at. (Just don’t make her boobs flop around like tazed [url=http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130513220553/powerlisting/images/8/82/Flubber.jpg]Flubber[/url] or be big enough to change the weight distribution on a [url=https://imgflip.com/i/8klkv]jet airliner[/url].) [b]-[/b] In playing testing you should make sure it’s easy to "pick up and go." It shouldn't be a hassle to start playing. You shouldn't be forced to think excessively hard about remembering how to play. Good Luck.
