The harshest thing to come to Russia will be from the US. The EU is tied down due to the Natural Gas imports from Russia. And to the United States, Ukraine is really, really low on the list of interests. I'mm betting you'll see something along the lines of Serbia, the country will most likely break up (East Ukraine). Russian passports are already being handed out as we speak just to add fuel to the fire. Expect Russian insolvent in these elections. I also wouldn't put Russian military "Assistance" (intervention) out of the question, if anything, it's extremely plausible.

I mean, he's stating the obvious. Unless Russia pulls back, the G8 will most definitely become the G7 again. Sanctions are obviously coming, so again, obvious. As for the Middle East, yea it can affect the area, but no one wants a nuclear Iran. As for Syria, the author seems to imply we have the moral high-ground *cough*Serbia*cough*. This will be as eventful as the Russian invasion of Georgia at most.

I would definitely argue in favor of a more involved United States in Syria.
