It's a change of pace, and I really appreciate that. Almost every AAA title out right now, in addition to upcoming releases, seems to be taking the gritty, realistic approach. This differentiation will continue to set them up for awhile as well, because the stream of gritty, realistic games doesn't seem to be slowing down.
Also, I think you're underestimating how "adult" Destiny will be. While from an aesthetic standpoint I suppose you could make the argument that it isn't very gritty, but as the saying goes: "Don't judge a book by it's cover." I'm fully expecting Destiny's story to incorporate many darker themes.

If you've seen some of the clips from the various ViDocs, there are many areas of Destiny that are darker and more war-torn than what we saw in the gameplay demo. As for realistic damage visuals I understand where you're coming from, but Bungie as a whole seems to have stayed away from that kind of thing in the past.
this thread isn't a "Bungie do this!!" Thread.
I never said it was. I'm just saying that Bungie seems to philosophically disagree with gore in their games, so I doubt you'll see Destiny or future Destiny installments steered in that direction.
