>People thinking if the minimum wage is increased by an absurd amount companies will willingly bend over and cave in
Lol no, they will just slash hours, benefits, and lay off people. What honestly makes you think they're going to willingly cave in to a wage increase? Take the McDonald's protests for example, their job is not worth $15 an hour no matter how you look at it. You can bitch and moan about how people can't live off those wages but that begs the question as to why they're trying to in the first place.
The interesting point I think that is made is that te cost d living continues to rise whether or not the minimum wage is increased. Making it impossible to live on one income anymore. Twenty years ago this was possible. Companies are getting more greedy. Family business has pretty much vanished. And even when you make ten over minimum wage you still cant own a house yourself. I don't think you people understand how difficult it is now to raise a family on 20 an hour let alone minimum wage. Cost of living continues to soar yet people are still making 10 an hour.
