The battery hens in Canada are a disgrace. If I'm not mistaken there are still places like that in the UK too.
Anyone who isn't buying free ranged eggs really should be ashamed. It's not some preachy organic buy eet hippy crap, it's that you are funding this massive scale torture of animals.
I mean people get so worked up over a hundred odd people in guantanamo but here are hundreds of thousands of chickens being turned into egg machines.

they're not pets, they're not equals and they're food. if might be able to count, it's not food, yet. dolphins, horses,etc should be protected. but f***ing chickens ? get a grip they're nature's violent retards of the bird world.

Just because you don't have a high opinion of another species doesn't make it ok to treat them like shit. Yes they are used as food but does that mean it's ok to shut them in cages to die in their own filth whilst pumping them full of hormones and steroids that cause them to lay eggs constantly? Or cutting off their claws and beaks so they can't kill each other/themselves? If you think that is ok, then seriously -blam!- off. I don't normally just end a conversation like that but really, if you think all of that is ok because they are used as food then yeah. -blam!- off.
