Why are you surprised?
As a gun owner and someone who believes in gun ownership, I agree with this and I'm sure many of the other gun owners would agree as well. It's only the people who continue to blame the firearm itself that are morons. For whatever reason, they fail to comprehend that a gun does not kill anyone, it's people that kill other people and the mass shootings are all caused by people with mental illness. Every single person that caused a mass shooting all were flagged by the police, friends, family or people the shooter worked with, or have records of mental illness in the past.
It's the fault of the liberal mainstream media that has been successfully brainwashing people with garbage info, claiming that guns are the problem and in no way is it a person making his/her own decision.

So having checks to prevent those mentally unstable from getting guns must be a good thing then? If your mentally stable you can get all the weaponry you need, but if your unstable and might decide to randomly go a killing spree you won't be able to.

I'm not surprised that Wayne wants to help with the writing of new laws, I'm surprised that he came out and said it. I'm a lifetime NRA member (though I don't follow their internal news very much) and sadly a lot of members dislike the idea of increased checks since background checks are already sluggish, but it looks like Wayne wants to fix that as well, which is great!
