I mean we have identical cases here. Instead it's a christian man, cutting off a person's head in the name of Jesus. Except we arrested him, instead of shooting him dead like we do most to most Radical Muslims. He's the definition of Radical Christian and we write him off as "mentally ill". Why don't we give Radical Muslims due process anymore? Have we gotten so used to calling them terrorists that they're automatically a threat with a political agenda the moment they scream ALLAHU AKBAR (God is great), deemed "enemy combatants" and we now can just deny them all their rights?

由Uncle Putin编辑: 5/3/2014 3:30:15 PMBecause this is one isolated case and the terrorists are an organized and dangerous group of people hell bent on killing anyone who is American. They are both mentally ill, but the radical Muslims are much more dangerous to our society. Al Qaeda is an enemy combatant and the rules of war state that we don't have to give them due process if what they're doing are acts of war, and they are acts of war. They've even said that they've declared war on the great evil of the West.

First off, it seems that he was already mentally ill way before that murder.
He told the court he is haunted by voices telling him how to behave and said they had told him he was "an angel of Jesus Christ who is going to create a new Jerusalem". He added: "They direct how I act, sometimes they say kill, fight, hit, pray."
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1" I don't think an angel of Jesus would tell you to behead and otherwise murder a woman you don't know at all.
Deyanov also said he had been using crack cocaine and LSD before his arrest, and had no memory of living in Tenerife.
There's also this. I think most of the arguing over this comes over whether the murderer/terrorist kills people of their own will and deliberately, with the malicious intent to end life, or if they are someone who was both mentally ill and who used drugs, and said the voices in his head told him to, without much control over his actions. I propose a solution: those who, with their own willpower and in control of their actions, murder people in the name of god (though the Christian God told us "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you... Matt.5:44", which is about the opposite of kill and murder) should get more severe punishments than someone who was mentally ill and was on drugs, and didn't have a much control over his actions, though they both should still be punished for murder.

5 回复No offense, but are you as a Muslim really complaining about an act of violence committed by a Christian? Like your kind has any high ground to speak from...

10 回复Because no form of christianity teaches this. "Radical Christianity" is closer to the Westboro Baptist Church. The only people who clam to follow Jesus and cut peoples heads off are members of cults that have nothing to do with the main church.

由RighteousTyrant编辑: 5/24/2013 7:58:08 PMHere is, allegedly, a video of the shooting. Apologies for the quality. If you could, OP, please point out the time at which the officers had a chance to peacefully subdue the suspects. Was it before or after they were charging the officers' SUV with weapons in hand? Also, could you please describe how the situation that these officers found themselves in is at all comparable to arriving on-scene to find the suspect already retrained by others. If you could, specifically address how a previously-detained man is comparable to two men actively charging with weapons, because these two fact patterns strike me as being incomparable, but I wish to hear your side of things.

2 回复He is mentally ill. The article said he has schizophrenia. There's no mention that the other people -- while probably crazy in some sense, which the article acknowledges -- had been diagnosed with mental illnesses. He's not the definition of a "Radical Christian." A radical Christian would be someone who does crazy shit mainly because of their beliefs in Christianity. This guy was a schizophrenic. If a care bear told him to kill that doesn't mean he's a care bear radical; it means he's still a schizophrenic. There's a difference between committing crimes based on crazy beliefs and committing crimes because voices told you to.

7 回复Have you ever seen a Jihadi who is screaming Allahu Ackbar and NOT doing something that involves blowin himself up?

2 回复How is this comparable? The man was subdued before police arrived. You bet your ass they'd of shot if he was still a threat, but wasn't.

由sims3k编辑: 5/24/2013 3:21:44 AMdouble standards and racism bro. I have a dream, when christian people, and muslim people, and all people of all faiths, can behead someone in the name of any deity they like, and be classified not as a terrorist, but as mentally ill. amen, allahu akbar

Most terrorists do it for a common (at least, amongst them: Islamist terrorists are a minority within a minority) ideology, not based on a personal experience with God, Mohammad, or any other prophet. That deals with the mentally ill question in the topic title, though not with the due process question your body is actually about. Two different points.
