I've tried doing this.. It worked for a week and then I slowly seeped back into my regular routine. Its really hard to force yourself to change so suddenly. You forgot to take into account conditions people might have that will make it even harder or impossible to do. It doesn't feel natural for me to do some of the most basic social things that everyone else finds basic.
It's not a rapid transition though. It's gradual, and you're lucky you even noticed a difference within a week. Of course you'll seep back into your current routine, but the whole idea is to establish more routine interaction with people.
I'm with you, some of the things other people find normal don't come naturally to me either.. but its a work in progress. Eventually, by doing them, those things will become natural.
