Tokyo: Random observations
Beer vending machines exist here
Convenience store sushi is better than anything you've tried outside of Japan
Anything you eat here tastes good
Hot drinks in vending machines
There are a [i]lot[/i] of shops
Manga is everywhere (I found Birdy at the Family Mart)
Smartphones are quiiiiite popular
Fat middle-aged men dressed as schoolgirls is just no big deal
Wiping your dogs bottom is just the norm here
Sushi is amazing
The average Tokyo person has much better sense of style than you or me
Vending machines are everywhere, in the most random locations
The tube is the way to travel
Do not sneeze loudly in public
Being over 6 foot tall makes for interesting moments

1 回复My future career will likely result in me living in Japan...but I've heard they can get pretty xenophobic. Did you have any experience with that? And did you encounter any problems from not speaking Japanese?

3 回复More thoughts; Reading manga porn in public is normal (I've seen it 3 times on the tube) You can't get good coffee in this city Having a beard is a big no-no, and I suspect its because they think it makes you look like a homeless person Any dish that you order in a food place will melt your face off with its deliciousness Drinking beer is acceptable anywhere Tokyo is obsessed with France
