I've been to most of the major airports in the Continental US and several in Asia and Europe. My favorite airport in the world, by a mile, is Hong Kong International. Crazy efficient, lots of stuff to do and places to eat for long layovers, clean, and modern.
In the States, the best major airport to get onto your plane quickly is undoubtedly Reagan National. The best airport for long layovers is Denver.

In the United Terminal (also can be walked to from the AA terminal) near security is a place called Yankee Pier. If you have an AM departure, get there early and enjoy their Eggs Benedict topped with Dungeness Crab. You'll thank me later.

SFO (and LAX for that matter) both suck for the fact that it is impossible to get from terminal to terminal without leaving the sterile area of one terminal and having to go back through security in another. That is a TERRIBLE pain in the ass and is enough to have me think twice before passing through or stopping/starting my trips at either airport. But SFO does have a saving grace of some decent food if you are there for a while.
