I'm conflicted. I don't think obese people should be made to feel as if they are bad people, but I absolutely do not agree with the idea that obesity should be presented as a normal, healthy alternative to a more normal body type, which is something that many (not all) of activists in this subject do.

This. 'Shaming' people for problems like this only usually serves to develop insecurities and, sometimes, serious mental health issues. It's incredibly difficult to sustain motivation to get healthy over the time [i]it takes[/i] to get healthy just on shame - and even if you do, there's no stopping once you get healthy. Physical fitness is something you have to work on for life, not for a couple of months.
