Just putting it out there. If Bungie decides to make my hard earned armor and weapons obsolete with Apollo by implementing the changes to weapon tiers and armor stats, I won’t be here anymore. My drive to play Destiny has grown to be quite casual, and if bungie thinks that I have any kind of motivation to regrind for armor and weapons, they’d be wrong. I don’t think they care about one person leaving, but I don’t think I’m the only one with this sentiment. Big changes like this need to happen when a game is on a high note, otherwise people won’t accept the grind. Destiny is not on a high right now and I’m not confident that Apollo has people that excited. If you want another portion of your casual player base to walk away, make their hard earned gear obsolete. Don’t do it.

1 回复That’s how I felt too at first but then I realized, if they had released a D3 we would be starting over anyway. So I’m trying to keep an open mind, and if the changes they introduce are enough to make the game feel new and fresh, why not?

1 回复由CORPERATE COMMANDER编辑: 5/16/2025 7:57:44 PMThey want your old gear to be irrelevant so you can grind for the new gear to pad out play time ,certain accounts will say the obv front and thats (it will still be usable) they are not lieing, they just don't explain it will be usable, it just won't be viable in anything above vanguard ops and low tier pvp. The replys you have below from those accounts are hilarious 😂 like new armor stat's is loot now ? 🤣 So you will need to farm for new armor because your old triple 100 stat gear is irrelevant same as the time you spent grinding for it

由damascus编辑: 5/17/2025 7:39:13 PMI feel the same way. I don’t mind grinding for new weapons, but not armor. I have everything the way I want it finally. Weapons aren’t made totally obsolete in that way. “What’s the purpose of a looter shooter then?” Oh I don’t know, some people like to use the weapons, armor, and rolls they tried really hard to get - and use them for more than 6 months to a year, before it’s all completely irrelevant. Want to get people to grind for armor? Make them look GOOD and just do a slight patch tweak to “dump” stats across all previous armor. I know what every set of armor looks like for the raids and dungeons currently. A lot of it is pretty bad - especially for Salvation’s Edge and Sundered doctrine. Don’t believe me? Look at the Hunter’s outfits, specifically the bath curtain robe. Even the “Chromatic/Pristmatic” themed armor looked pretty bad. Some of the best looking armor comes from Ghosts of the Deep - and the rest comes from the Eververse store.

2 回复My biggest gripes with thee armor changes besides it 100% being a change planned for a destiny 3 you can’t convince me otherwise is we’re still gonna have to grind the same awful activities to get it. They haven’t said anything about actually grinding for armor being different.

2 回复This definitely seems like the moment when they should have ended D2 and move on to D3.

This is probably the biggest problem with the GaaS model; trying to freshen things up by taking all your hard-earned gear and making it obsolete just for the sake of grinding for new gear so that you'll continue to give them your money until the polar caps melt. You keep giving them money which convinces them that you like what they're doing with the game. You can literally stop giving them money at any time, but you don't and that's on you.

3 回复I must say grinding out my armour. For it to be sunset again is stupid. I understand they want to change the armour system up but its annoying I am having to put all that work in again.

2 回复由Morakx编辑: 5/17/2025 9:11:03 AMWe all saw how sunsetting or even sunsetting light worked out. Noone but the 3 streamers who are left playing this game liked it. All the casuals hated it and stopped playing. They never came back. They could atleast introduce an addition to the crafting table that allows players to edit their current weapons towards the new system with materials but nope, that would be player friendly... Very bold of Bungie to try it again in this terrible state that Destiny is in and also considering how bad Marathon looks. But hey Bungie keeps manipulating themselves. Go for it lol

I'll not be buying anymore content. I'll nip in here & there to see what happens with the new armour & such, maybe have a shuffle round the new areas if that's free, but I am absolutely done with putting money in Bungies pockets. The whole Star Wars grift is such an eye roller. And this 'metroidvania' gameplay looks like another lazy gimmick. And I'm sure there'll be another management scandal incoming by the time Wedge of Bait drops (thru the floor) My playtime in the game has cratered since TFS & I don't ever see it recovering. I hope that folks that do keep paying & playing are treated well & get great content. They deserve it for all the ruff times they've been thru. Good Hunting Guardians 😎

1 回复Your current armor and weapons will inevitably be less effective than the new max tier gear. The fact that you planned to ride the same boring -blam!- loadout forever is exactly why they're doing this

3 回复The refresh unfortunately needs to happen but I worry it is too late. When have been the most exciting times in franchise history? The times when a new yearly DLC phases out old loot by making it obsolete and gives you a whole new array or weapons and armor to grind and play with. I point to destiny 1 taken king, when everyone seems to forget was the first time sunsetting happened by literally making every single thing acquired in year 1 utterly useless because it was all capped at 170 light. We look back on taken king today as all time peak destiny, and it's not just nostalgia. The new stuff made people want to play. It didnt matter that the past year was a waste from a resource perspective. Out with the old in with the new. I point to forsaken, when the entire sandbox was overhauled and created basically a whole new game to play. Gone were all of your year 1 weapons with 1 perk, now you get two on everything. Gone were your double primaries. A billion new weapons to chase and play with in this new sandbox. Any casual player who played will tell you that this was the peak of destiny, even though they had just had all their stuff from year 1 sunset... again. People will not play without a reason to chase meaningfully new and more valuable gear. If you take everything away and give a whole new world of things to chase to make up for it, people are not mad, in fact they love it, and this has been proven. The problem now is that D2 has been a hamster wheel for so long that itd hard to imagine any sort of overhaul would get people to play it. The sheer volume of weapons now, across multiple weapon systems (unenhancable, enhanceable, craftable, origin trait or none etc) from multiple years is so overwhelming people complain about a 500 slot vault. You make people grind for so long and add so many layers to the grind, people do get attached to their stuff, more than they would have been before forsaken and taken king

I honestly wished they would make armor sets have intrinsic perks on it like many Elder Scrolls Online does with set bonuses from armors instead of slightly raising the stats and energy on armor. I feel like it’s going to be a minuscule upgrade to Tier 3 armor if you already have Artifice Armor on your character. So I wouldn’t be so quick to jump ship because of a “reset” in armor and weapons because this isn’t the same as when everything was sunset. Your current stuff should still be viable in most scenarios.

I see it as having something to do... ya it bites... but having something to work towards is better than complaining there's nothing to do...I have been using the same armor for years no reason to even look at armor... but now I look forward to the new wave armor sets and mods the build crafting... despite the impending loss...the anticipation is mounting....

1 回复so, if obtaining new loot is not your incentive to play this LOOTER Shooter, what is your point of playing? The point is that there needs to be gear to chase, always something better on the horizon. BTW your gear isnt obsoleet, you can still wear it, use it, just there will be better stuff out there.

1 回复I’d rather armor actually be a useful drop than be annoyed I get armor over a weapon drop
-
Yknow you can still use your current armor right? Same with your guns, the change is only for new gear going forward, it's not like they're taking our stuff away again. The only difference with armor is our current stuff (i just kept one full set of artifice armor, why do people have 20 billion armor pieces in their inventory lol? No wonder people run out of vault space) will have their stats adjusted but will still work as it does now, new armor will have varying types for what you want to build into including set bonuses (like any mmo has since forever) so you can realistically have two on for nades, two on for agility and one exotic etc etc, also they decided to redesign it all into just being simple and having naming anyone can understand (melee, nades, agility, etc) Weapons on the other hand is just some new fancy cosmetic stuff, it's not like they'll work any differently.

由Dredgen Truth编辑: 5/17/2025 3:22:51 PMThey're gonna do it and it's needed How many times have you been on this site and heard people saying things like "I only get armor drops from this dungeon! This is terrible!"? It's a problem that half the loot we get currently is considered useless once you've gotten it to drop once. Set bonuses combined with the stat reworks are going to make armor into a drop that people actually want again, rather than just having your one perfect set of artifice armor for whatever given build you like and then putting whatever ornaments you please on it.
