For me it depends on the game but it's mostly like rock/pop rock/anything like that (like a highly underrated band called Friday Pilots Club), but I'm interested to see what everyone else listens to

Usually don't have music on unless I'm doing mindless grinding. Been listening to a lot of Pendulum recently.

I used to listen to a lot of TSFH while gaming, but anymore it’s just distracting lol. If it’s a cozy game though, I might listen to some calmer music.
What do you guys listen to while you game?
The game.... Unless you're playing something like Super Mario Bros., why even be playing it if you're not paying any attention to what is going on, which have have audio prompts or dialogue? Maybe this explains why so many multiplayer games have people with no clue as to what is going on around them.

Depends on the game. Skyrim I’ll listen to anything, catch up on podcasts or just put on some metal I’ve been meaning to listen to, same with Minecraft. Other than that though, not really. Either the game soundtrack or nothing.

Post-rock for the most part. It varies.
Want me to specify the artists? I doubt anyone wants that, y'all haven't shown any interest in them before...
Just the game. If it’s like Dark Souls with no bkgd music, then nothing cause I’m fighting for my life at every corner and if I have the luxury to listen to music, I’m not sweating hard enough. If it’s a shooter, I need them ears. If I’m grinding something like in Warframe, I listen to the game dialogue (this gets old after a few weeks), kill sounds, guns, slashes, bkgd music, bullet jumping noise. Friend commentary works if I’m in a party though.
Or I focus on not dying, cause it’s Steel Path Circuit and I forgot to kit my joke-of-a-pick Excal Umbra towards any form of high level survivability, and none of my chosen guns (or melee) are heavy enough hitters to do anything bigger than three digits towards the level 100+ (and increasing) goofus heavy units.
When I was collecting all 900 korok seeds in Botw, I listened to a lot of Billy Joel 💀

Papa Roach-Getting Away This song made Mechassault 2 intensify so freaking great, good times. Another great thing to listen to in game was Breaking Benjamin startup in the Mausoleum of the Arbiters (Halo 2), so dope. Mostly I stick to whichever game track or added mod depending on game.

I don’t listen to anything because I’m scared I’ll miss an important audio cue. However, once I was playing Minecraft and Never Meant by American Football came up in my playlist and it fit oddly well. Also, I’m listening to my twenty one pilots playlist as I’m typing this and Never Take It (Livestream Version) played and then immediately after (on shuffle) Never Take It (as in the normal version) played

The game. 95% of the time, listening to the game’s intended soundtrack & ambience improves the experience. The remaining 5% is when I’ve played a game to the point I’ve aready heard everything a million times, like a Roguelike or Crystal Chronicles, and even then it’s still the game soundtrack 90% of the time. In the remaining 10% of the 5%, I just listen to my regular music playlist. It’s pretty varied.
