This wasn't even a case of lazy writing, the pieces were in place since curse of Osiris. We knew we would eventually travel back in time to meet Saint-14 thanks to perfect paradox But I'm guessing that's far too complex for you to understand

Just because you take a long time to set up a plot, does not mean you put in a lot of effort. Time travel is the most hand-wavy shit in the world, and it is lazy. Instead of coming up with something clever to fix plot holes, and dangling threads, they just use time travel and then call it a day. Which is LAZY writing.
