Have you double-checked to make sure you don't have another Battle.net account where you might have played instead? Even https://wastedondestiny.com/ doesn't show anything for that username, and if your characters were manually deleted, there would still be something to transfer.

The PC Move process only migrates data from Battle.net to Steam. If you want to use your Destiny characters that were imported from the first game prior to the launch of Destiny 2, you would need to link your PSN account to your Bungie.net profile from Settings > Accounts & Linking and set that as Active when setting up Cross Save.
