Narrowed it down.
I was running off an external SSD (had been for around 9months). I copied data back to internal HDD of PS4). After copying back and restarting the game Destiny works like a dream.
I'm going to copy data back to SSD and see if issues comes back. I'll report again sometime tomorrow.

UPDATE - PROBABLE FIX Evidence suggests the Latest update caused some sort of data corruption that was causing the sound dropouts and menu lag. After copying from SSD TO HDD and confirming it appeared fIxed; I copied back to SSS FROM HDD, played two game of Iron Banner and everything seems okay. I’d suggest deleting Destiny and re-installing it if you have these issues on HDD only. This should fix it for PS4. If not, rebuild database and clear cache too just to be on the safe side.

I always keep Destiny and my currently played games on local because it generally will always process faster on the console, and Destiny games are very very sensitive to any delays in data transfer. Also, depending on the SSD, they can be optimised for write, optimised for read, or setup somewhere in the middle. If you have one more designed for writing optimisation, then that may explain it being hesitant on reading data.

Its been running perfect for months, so only a recent issue. Copying back over now. Next step will be to test cable if it still happens. If it does, I’ll move it back to HDD for all time and suffer the 15 second load gain I haven’t missed since moving to SSD :)

But I don’t have an sad so I don’t know what to do
