Everyone saying that wouldn't make sense in a fight...
Look at Cayde, Ikora, Zavala, and Hawthorne, none of them were wearing helms during the final battle, and they couldn't be revived 😕

Because they're main characters. Our character isn't a main character. We are all just grunts doing grunt work for the vanguard. And by vanguard law, grunts are required to wear helmets into battle. Also Cayde-6 didn't wear a helmet and look what happened to him. Uldren shot him in the head.
