Yeah for me when she is not using it for Microsoft word. Seriously she doesn't need a good Mac or even a new pc for the stuff she does... but Apple have this insane ability to invoke capitalistic tendencies in even a communist such as yourself. I have a pretty good PC but it's a few Years old now. GTX 970, etc be ok but not great and certainly not mobile

If I were you just buy her the lowest option and take the difference you saved to buy a decent gaming laptop pc.
