Just like the dumb scoring adjustment to CoE a while back. The forge was clearly designed to limit solo play.
Bungie has a hard on for Fireteams.
The whole LFG for everything is getting freaking old now.

I have friends... shocking I know. What if they are not on? I play later than most due to work. That leaves me using LFG to play a video game. I also shouldn't have to schedule my play time with other ppl. I should be able to pick up my controller and play when I want. Nothing was implied about anything other than LFG for everything is not effective or efficient. Its a band aid that we willingly accepted.

The whole game is based around a fire team. It's never been anything else. You would soon complain that the game is too easy if you didn't need a fire team for the main bits. So you betcha Bungie love planning stuff round groups of three.
-
Find some better friends. In all seriousness, if you get a large enough group of people you like playing with, it is no hassle to throw something together. If you do weird hours, you'll have to branch into other nationalities, but that should really only be a problem if your primary language is one that doesn't have representation across all timezones. Bungie apparently disagrees with the LFG/MM model, which's why you see DeeJ constantly shilling clans. I highly doubt they're going to make a sudden 180 on that ideology, because it has merit. Adapt.

Here's the problem I have... other people in my house sleep. If I run a mic, they hear it. There is no getting around that one. I too play weird hours, and so I forego fire teams other than matchmade. I don't complain about it because the game is designed for fire teams, but yeah, the fellow's point about his friends and time of play resonates with me.

You're playing in an environment that's not conducive to the way is intended. That sucks, but I don't see how exactly that's other people's problems at this point. Could always find a group that's cool with excessive text messaging. But playing a social game with no ability to be social is a bad idea.
-
Your whole argument is weak. Bungie built a social game and didn't include until recently much of a system to build a social group. Your answer is even more ridiculous. To tell people they need better friends. I would probably recommend you tell that to anyone you consort with because I think your people skills are lacking.
-
Hence I am not complaining. Your comment to the other fellow was "Make better friends", as if it was a social issue. That's not always the case. Sometimes it's just a real-life thing. Do I think we should complain about the game not forming around us? No. It's just not as simple as you painted it.
