[spoiler]By principle, I mean that the guy above me tried to disprove my thingy by saying "there is no number between 0.99999.... and 1, therefore 0.9999.... is not smaller than 1". However, what I said is that there doesnt have to be a number in between two numbers to make one smaller than the othet.[/spoiler]

Asking for a whole number is a specific request in which there is a specification of what type of number I can choose. Saying any number means that there is no specification on the number you can choose, and therefore, an infinite option. So, if there is an infinite option of numbers to choose and you can choose a single one, then there is no number between them. When you say choose a whole number between 1 and 2, and I can't choose any whole number between 1 and 2, that simply means that there is no whole number between the two
