Monte Carlo is best. Zhalo next. Then there's Hard Light. Hard Light's recoil/stability/accuracy is so bad you can barely do shit with it.

Recoil is a base hidden stat that effects direction and severity, along with many other complex factors. Counterbalance and rodeo modify recoil. Perfect balance and fitted stock increase stability.

If you skip to the side by side comparison you can see that vertical recoil is not affected. This also goes over the accuracy thing a bit too. All of it has side by side comparison in game so that you can tell it isn't just some guy spouting off garbage.

I was pretty upset when I learned this at first because I spent so much time rerolling a fast firing Pulse Rifle for counterbalance and perfect balance because it had a ton of vertical recoil. When I finally got it the gun felt almost exactly the same. Turns out it just had a high base 'recoil' stat. I will forever miss my Coiled Hiss 1919. It had a great recoil stat and the vanguard sold one with perfect balance and counterbalance. Unfortunately when perfect balance got nerfed it swayed too much side to side to be useful. Edit: I just remembered the Pulse Rifle I spent forever rerolling was Skorri's Revenge.
