I say, why not? Activision is a large, well-known company for a reason. They know how to make money properly, by doing simple marketing ploys like this. I'm going to be honest, I've fallen for it.

You and Activision are the reason why games as a medium have plateaued in the AAA space. The products are actively damaged by their desire to wring every last cent out of it. You're playing a product, not a game. Thank god it's an unsustainable situation and the AAA market will likely cave in on itself before too long.
