Well, first off, I don't see the need for this controller if you're already a PC gamer. It's meant to be a viable alternative to a keyboard and mouse, but this begs the obvious question as to why you would wish to replace a keyboard and mouse with a less precise alternative. The only answers which spring to mind are preference of a controller or that such a setup is not conducive to using a keyboard and mouse. Now, the former is already covered by the host of available controllers which can be connected to a PC via USB, and the latter is not logical for a currently existing PC setup.
The controller seems as though it were tailor made for the steam machine. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm just not sure why I as a PC gamer would bother to purchase one.

由HeadHunter编辑: 6/28/2015 12:42:31 AMI wanted opinions on the controller not a theory of yours on why Im asking about it. I'm not a full time pc gamer which is why I was asking about steams new controller. Because I prefer a controller over keyboards and mouse. An wanted opinions on steams new controller, and if it would work better than 360's.

由DELIVER ME MEMES编辑: 6/28/2015 2:32:51 AMhis "theory" as you put it answered your question already. the steam controller is a terrible idea unless you have a steambox which is also a terrible idea. you should just get an xbox one controller. you just plug in the controller(which must contain no batteries) with the USB cable, download the free official drivers from major nelson's site. click install. agree to the "Microsoft's OC, do not steal" software agreement and done. it's compatible with all games that are controller compatible, most of which were developed for the xbox 360 controller in mind. the xbone controller will perfectly emulate the 360's input to that game. and if you're wondering why a steam machine is a terrible idea, it's because you could DIY it yourself for cheaper, in a system that won't be prone to overheating and crashing and won't be for a super high markup. and you can run steam without Steam OS on windows(all games work here), linux(few games compatible at all), and mac(lol what modern games?). Steam OS is a free buggy custom version of the (IIRC) Debian(or was it ubuntu?) Linux distro but gimped to only be able to use steam in big picture mode. oh, and a failed install will fry your HDD.

no, but that's literally the only reason it exists. so people too dumb/lazy to not buy a steam box will have more hardware sold to them. they're all small form factor HTPCs loaded with Steam OS but with massive price tags for the configurations used.
