Businesses have been trying to push a subscription base model for years ever since the 90s and the music industry. It's a great way to jack up prices without actually doing anything to earn the profit. Low content and high priced DLC seems to be the alternative that Activision/Bungie have gone with. People on an individual basis can decide if it is worth it.

I did not even read the reasoning for the repeated lame term you came up with in OP because the analogy of me being jealous of my friend who gets a new phone plus a phone which is four generations old was ridiculous. You should sell t-shirts which display the lame terms you make up to help subsidize future video game purchases.
