That's not how it works. That's not how any of this works. Engrams are player specific, meaning only 1 person gets it. It doesn't matter who gets the kill, the chance to get an engram is the same. You could literally not fire a bullet the entire game and still reach level 32, if you play with a friend, the only advantage there is to killing anything is the grimoire score you obtain from it.
