As the title says, why can't we like replies?

由Deus Avertat編輯: 1/11/2013 10:59:26 PMI think the purpose of likes may be to determine how "popular" threads are (one of the sorting options), so, as replies are still ranked by how recently they were posted, there is little point being able to like them as well, as it would have no effect.

1 回覆Before the release of Bungie.next, there was much discussion surrounding the implementation of a like feature. People presented the many pros and cons of such a feature. However, there were always multiple employees who seemed to support the idea. I think that this was more or less a compromise. I could be wrong though. It seems more sensible to just have it for the OP to help with thread sorting. As people said in the past polls really limited activity in a thread. If every post was likable, it may give members an overwhelming reason to post less, therefore limiting overall activity.

3 回覆I think the liking threads thing is only there to determine which threads are popular so there's no point in liking replies.

由KingInTheNorth編輯: 1/11/2013 6:30:58 PMThe only reason I've ever liked a thread was to track threads that I have made, still waiting for a saved threads feature and the return of all of my old saved threads. It just never really crosses my mind to like any threads so I just don't do it, and when it does I think to myself, "Did I actually particularly like this thread? Or am I just thinking about liking it because I posted in it?" If I liked every thread I posted in my profile would get cluttered with them and it would kind of defeat the purpose of liking in the first place. I guess all of that was rather off topic, but liking an individual reply would make more sense to me because of what I just said because liking a reply is far more specific than liking an entire thread.

由Crackerjack編輯: 1/11/2013 5:17:04 PMIt sure seems like an odd omission. The vast majority of things that I tend to find insightful and compelling are well made responses.
Posted by: Seven (Seven) I think the liking threads thing is only there to determine which threads are popular so there's no point in liking replies.
On the contrary, liking replies lets users voice approval of an opinion without having to write an opinion that more or less amounts to "I agree."

1 回覆I was wondering that too. I think the whole "like/dislike" thing might just be for forum organization, instead of self-esteem purposes. Like, if a thread gets liked a lot, it'll float to the top, but if it gets disliked it'll disappear more quickly. I don't know, I don't understand the internet.
