They’ll update old content to the new system eventually, but given the glacial pace at which Bungie does anything (not fully their fault as the team is much smaller now due to layoffs) who knows when that will be. I just think this new system should not have been introduced until it was game wide so people could play what they want and feel rewarded for it. And updating the old armour and weapons to the tier system should be a high priority for them.
