Moon is totally allowed as the favorite; she's the namesake afterall.
But if we didn't have Venus, Moon might not exist.
I think we meet another character in S2 but I'm not going to write anything about them because I forget what's actually spoiler-y relative to said character.
Tuxedo Mask.... shows up when they need him. Cool, teamwork, yo. But he's kind of a raging -blam!- sometimes. I find this interesting relative to some of the writers alleged comments about the character.
Oh yeah, Usagi's definitely a good character, and deserves that favorite character spot! It's just that's also, like, the default answer. The main character being the favorite is such a boring choice, but I can't help it, Usagi's great! :p
Yeah, I have heard of Codename: Sailor V! I briefly considered giving it a read, but I can't really see myself going and picking up a manga, tbh. And if I did, I'm not sure I'd be able to get used to the reading it "backwards" (relative to English)!
Definitely no spoilers, though! I only just barely started Sailor Moon R, so I've got no idea what's to come!
Haha, yeah, Tuxedo Mask (in season 1) was a little frustrating, especially during the Kunzite stuff. It kinda felt like they had an idea for what they wanted to do with him, but just didn't really know how to pull it off. Thankfully, this changed after...
He was Refreshed
His arc really came together after that, and the annoying part kinda became more of a hiccup in an otherwise great arc.
Though, I will say, I don't like that he's Usagi's love interest, just because he's such a jerk to her as Mamoru. He is such a bully!
With the manga you're not missing a ton conceptually. Possibly one for the superfans unless it's available with some online service.
Plus chasing down manga can also get expensive even if there's only a couple volumes. Fair play to be picky.
Oh yeah, I wasn’t thinking of picking it up because it’s a crucial part of the story I’m missing, just that it’d be neat to see the original idea vs the final product. As an author, I quite enjoy that kind of thing. I hear Minako’s personality is a bit different in Sailor V.
A quick Google search, and they don’t seem that expensive, though. Looks like there’s only 2 volumes for somewhere around $15-$20 each. Though, don’t quote me on that, my search was leas than two minutes long. :p
