Starting a new franchise is hard. Developing a community and player base who is dedicated with years of investment in your IP is even harder.
To rob Peter to pay Paul for portfolio diversity is a huge risk and just does not feel right.
I don’t care about Marathon; I care about the franchise of Destiny.
My focus is on Frontiers, and I seriously Hope, Bungie Leadership didn’t grow eyes bigger than their stomachs because if Marathon flops, and they have to try to play catchup to a player base who has been feeling rather taken advantage of; all while competing with a new GTA…the odds aren’t great. Frontiers needs to seriously COOK on all stages PvE and PvP. No more recycled weapons and armor, no more reprised this. We need NEW content. Not a copy of your homework which we already paid for in previous DLCs.

6 回覆D2 players aren’t the target player base for Marathon. I’m sure some will play Marathon and I’ll be watching the game play reveal tomorrow to make my mind up. The whole idea of getting killed and losing all your loot to another player isn’t something the average D2 player would enjoy. There’s several streamers who’ve played it and say it’s really good so there’s that.

I'll tell you something that lil sneak peak vid in the TWAB.. I know its not gameplay.. but its showing the graphical enhancement.. you can see the D2 style movement and sound... (actually that sound is the best part) ...you can see a look that tries to merge fortnight.. and somewhat D2 elements ...my hot take is that if they offer regular PVP too (like D2..arena style) and not just extraction gameplay.. with dedicated servers, anti cheat, tons of weapons, full freelance player journey, transparency into matchmaking ... they could have something interesting there... maybe you extract for your PVP vault.. ya I know we dont trust them but if its FTP I'll try... -
1 回覆See they tried different with Lightfall, which was great gameplay, the story sucked, but the strand stuff was great. And eh... everyone hated it. So clearly we don't want different, we want: New, but like the old thing. D1 content, but also dont recycle things please. Talk about a confusing line to walk as the devs. Yes, I also think Lightfall was crap, but because of the story being so utterly disconnected from the rest of the events happening. The gameplay was fun.

2 回覆Marathon will be dead sometime after release because it is a PvP game. Flawless Trials players will migrate to Marathon to play entirely new content. In typical fashion Bungie will match solo teams against pre-made teams. The daily player population will experience a dramatic decline in population after players realize what is occurring. Goodbye Marathon. Dead shortly after arrival. Don't waste your money on a game that may have a short lifespan.

27 回覆It's not a hot take lol. You just like and play Destiny so it's more important to you lol. That's a very normal thing. To use another phrase, it's why we don't care about the price of tea in China. It's not remotely "robbing Peter to pay Paul" since they are being developed by separate teams. Both Destiny and Marathon will succeed or fail based on their own merits, not because one stole the others resources.

This episode model left a really sour taste in my mouth. I was expecting these episodes as a way to tie up loose ends from final shape, instead we got a new Villan (myra) and savathun mad again. So I see a potential savathun and xivu team up in frontiers or Apollo. They killed it with the dungeons, but the exotic missions weren't the greatest. Encore was good, probably one of the better ones overall. The stories weren't good at all though. Bungie still doesn't know how to do a compelling vex story. The scorn one was just bad. And heresy showed huge potential in the first act and inevitably fell short probably due to pacing. And I can't trash it enough for Solane giving exposition through subtitles during fights.
