In the first movie it's revealed that most aspects of lego society are because of the kid's dad (Taco Tuesday, everything needing to be perfect) but if everyone likes watching a show about a dude who doesn't wear pants does that mean the kid walked in on his dad watching dudes who don't wear pants?

Exactly, it works for tv too. For example: Tim Watley was a dentist in New York but after getting fed up dealing with Seinfeld, he moved and became Malcolm in the Middle's dad for a while. After going insane from his bitch wife, he tried to fake his death but got severely injured and became that dude in that movie coming out soon. He made a full recovery but then became Walter White. For some actors it gets confusing, like John C Reilly is either a time traveler or he suffered severe brain damage and experienced several hallucinations
